I migrated in Canada in 2009
and my husband in 2011. We
became Canadian Citizens in
2015.
I started as temporary foreign worker in the field of Chemistry in oil and gas company. The compensation is good and fulfilling, being able to support my family in the Philippines. After 7 years working 9 to 5 in the industry, I found out that there is no security of job specially during economic downturn.
I was grateful when I was invited to the business, I said yes right away. It gave me time freedom to attend to what is more important for us, that is family. I got licensed in 2016 and ever since, life has never been the same. I got time freedom to visit my parents in the US. I was able to take care of my aging parents and able to meet their needs, while doing the business. Looking ahead to the future, I realized the importance of being financially literate. This knowledge is precious because it helps us understand the complexities of financial system here in Canada.
